Finsbury, an expert in Goodyear welts, now also offers Blake welts for its shoe models. But what are the differences between these sole types?

THE GOODYEAR SEWN

Invented by Charles Goodyear Jr. in 1869, the Goodyear welt, or welted seam, connects the insole, the shoe upper, and the welt. This horizontal seam reinforces the shoe's strength while maintaining its flexibility.

This assembly is particularly appreciated for its great longevity.

THE BLAKE MONTAGE

Created by the American Lyman Reed Blake in 1858, the Blake construction is a unique seam that covers the insole, the outsole and the upper of the shoe.

Blake stitch lovers appreciate the finesse of the sole.
